AZPOSH is now at Microsoft Tempe

Just a reminder, the monthly AZPOSH meetings are now held at Microsoft’s office in Tempe. The day is still the first Wednesday of every month but from 3:30pm to 5pm.

For this month’s meeting, we will not have a remote option. I’m hoping to have something available for June.

Thank you everyone for being patient while all the details were sorted out.

AZPOSH is still scheduled for the first Wednesday of every month. We have relocated to the Microsoft Tempe Office and moved the scheduled time to 3:30pm to 5. If you’re sitting there wondering how you’re going to leave work, just pitch it to your boss as FREE TRAINING!

The address for Microsoft is 60 E. Rio Salado Pkwy 12th Floor. Tempe, AZ 85282. There is a map and directions available on the meeting map above.

AZPOSH is Moving! – No meeting scheduled yet!

AZPOSH will be moving to a new location with new group owners! We just don’t know when or where its going to happen.

So, there will be no meetings held until the move is complete. We will post the new group owners and location of the new version of AZPOSH as soon as we know!

April 4th AZPOSH meeting

AZPOSH is two years old!

Once again we will be meeting at our usual time (6pm-8pm) and location(Interface) on April 4th. After the International PowerShell User Group Day, the excitement for PowerShell is building.

For this meeting, we will have an open forum to discuss the directions of the user group. So bring your thinking caps!

So, what should the user group do, and how can you help? We want to hear from you!

P.S. This meeting will not be available through Interface Remote Live. Local attendance only for this month.

Rescheduled meeting to March 19th for International PowerShell User Group Day!

AZPOSH will be holding their March meeting on a special day. We will not have a meeting the first Wednesday, instead we will meet on March 19th to join other PowerShell user groups for the International PowerShell User Group Day!

There is no registration for this meeting, however only local attendance will be supported. We will not be broadcasting this live with our RemoteLive technology. You can attend any of the three meeting times. Here in Arizona, the meeting times are 12:00pm, 3:00pm, and 6:00pm. Please join us during the day if possible!

Abstract:

Microsoft PowerShell is a primarily a shell, an environment to manage just one thing or even many things. It is also a powerful and extensible enterprise tool. Many Microsoft product groups contribute additional tools on top of the shell; Exchange, Sharepoint, and SQL Server. There are also many 3rd party vendors that provide PowerShell tools; VMware, NetApp, and Cisco. It is also likely that there are PowerShell scripts and commands you have developed for your enterprises that solve unique problems or automate your own singular processes. One of the “Powers” in PowerShell is brought out through its advanced toolmaking capabilities. Understanding even the basics of advanced PowerShell toolmaking can help you take your scripts and commands to the next level. Learning and understanding how advanced functions handle parameters and building custom objects are the basics. Utilizing these with your own scripts and commands can quickly put your PowerShell tools on par with those from Microsoft and other vendors.

“Joel is currently employed as a Systems Engineer at a large real estate and relocation services company. He has worked in IT for nearly 14 years. During which time he has managed a plethora of technology systems, mostly of the Windows variety. In his spare time he enjoys tinkering with electronics and all things mechanical, learning how things work. This often involves breaking things.”

Decembers AZPOSH meeting was one of the best ever thanks to the visit from Scripting Guy and Scripting Wife. I wanted to thank Ed and Teresa on behalf of the entire AZPOSH user group. Here are some photo’s from the event.
